Immigration updates

There have been several policy and process changes over the last few months. Some of the highlights are:

  • Partner of a Worker work visa changes: Most Partner of a Worker work visas are now issued with conditions which require the migrant to work for an accredited employer and to get paid the median wage or relevant industry wage threshold
  • Transport sector agreement finalised: The Transport sector agreement has been finalised and provides a work to residence pathway for Bus Drivers, Truck Drivers, Skippers and Deckhands
  • Bus Driver median wage exemption: Bus Drivers applying for an Accredited Employer work visa are exempt from the median wage threshold and must instead be paid $28 per hour or more
  • More roles added to the Green List: New roles have been added to Tier 2 of the Green List, creating a work to residence pathway for more migrants. Some of the roles include Gasfitter, Motor Mechanic, Crane Operator, Civil Machine Operator and Halal Slaughterer
  • Parent category EOIs available online: It is now possible to lodge a Parent Expression of Interest (EOI) online
