The Parent Boost visitor visa opened on 30 September 2025. It provides another option for New Zealand residents and citizens to sponsor their parents to travel to New Zealand as visitors. The Parent Boost visitor visa is a 5-year temporary visa and can be issued a maximum of two times. Potentially the Parent Boost visitor visa can enable a stay of up to 10 years in New Zealand. The key requirements for applicants of the visa are:
- Meet health and character requirements
- Meet sponsorship requirements
- Not have any dependent children
- Have sufficient funds – this can be met personally or through the sponsor
- Hold acceptable health or travel insurance
