Changes to post study work rights for students

On Monday 26 November, major changes to post study work rights for students will come into effect.

Some students will become eligible for a three year open work visa upon completion of their study in New Zealand.

Remuneration thresholds increasing

On Monday 26 November, some important changes to remuneration thresholds will take place.

If you are applying for residence under the Skilled Migrant category, the remuneration threshold for skill level 1, 2 and 3 occupations will increase to $25 per hour.

If you are applying for an Essential Skills work visa, the remuneration threshold for mid-skilled employment for skill level 1, 2 and 3 occupations will increase to $21.25 per hour.
